Project description:
In the era of Industry 4.0, the level of automation in mass production is increasingly high, while in custom manufacturing automation represents a much greater challenge. The goal of our project was to automate two areas of the pre-planning process in custom manufacturing that had not yet been automated, using artificial intelligence.
Within the framework of the project, the tool cost estimation software module was created, which enables the automated calculation of the manufacturing costs of tools with forming surfaces (injection molding, sheet forming, casting) during the pre-planning or quotation phase. The manufacturing technology planning module (also known as operation sequence planning) allows for the automated preparation of the operation sequence plan for parts manufactured in custom production.
With the help of the software we designed, the pre-planning processes of custom manufacturing can be transformed at an industry level. By automating manufacturing planning processes, companies will be able to achieve more accurate cost and production planning and reallocate their human resources to other areas.

The Component Kft. won a non-repayable 50% grant of 223,826,852 HUF under the Széchenyi 2020 program “Expansion of Production Capacities of Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises” for site and capacity expansion. The non-repayable grant is financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the domestic central budget. The total cost of the investment is 447,653,705 HUF.
Type of financing:
European Regional Development Fund
Project start date:

Component Kft., with a 28-year history, plays a significant role in the domestic oil and gas industry, energy sector, and chemical industry, being a supplier to all major Hungarian corporations. It is a stable enterprise that launched its metal machining division in 2012, which has since developed successfully. Through EU tenders, the company built its current production hall in two phases at its Martonvásár site and purchased CNC milling machines, lathes, EDM machines, and grinding machines, becoming a stable supplier to the domestic automotive and mechanical engineering sectors within three years. Due to carefully planned machine investments and expansion of engineering staff, the company has continuously expanded its client base.
For export market expansion, under this EU project, the company is building a new, crane-equipped, 600 m² production hall on a site opposite its current facility and is acquiring new machining equipment to increase production capacity. Capacity expansion will focus not only on quantity but also on quality, with the addition of a state-of-the-art simultaneous 5-axis machining center and a micron-precision measuring machine essential for quality assurance. These capabilities will significantly enhance the company’s opportunities on the international stage.
Planned equipment purchases:
Okuma MU-5000 5-axis machining center: expands services to clients with simultaneous 3D and 4D machining of complex inserts, tool housings, and injection molds. It enables in-house completion of practically all multi-sided machining tasks.
- Okuma Genos 560 3-axis milling machine: a proven machining center already in use at the company. With increasing orders, further milling capacity is required.
- Okamoto AC-64DX grinding machine: essential to support the growing number of milling machines, as the current single grinder already represents a bottleneck.
- Mitsubishi EA-28 EDM machine: required for injection mold production. Currently outsourced, but with this investment the company can perform EDM machining in-house.
- Nikon Altera measuring machine: for quality control and calibration, capable of micron-level precision measurement against 3D models, with certified reports—essential for automotive sector supply.
- KONE 15t overhead crane: to be installed in the new hall, facilitating the movement of heavy steel parts and multi-ton tools within the facility.
At present, no free production space is available for additional machines, hence the real estate development is necessary to accommodate them. This facility and machinery investment marks a major step forward in technological readiness and capacity expansion, creating new jobs and significantly increasing the workforce.
Thanks to this EU grant, Component Kft., equipped with new technological capabilities, will be able to fully meet international expectations. In addition to serving domestic industrial needs, it will also be able to demonstrate its competencies to Western European automotive companies.
The firm’s determined goal remains to strengthen and expand its role in the Hungarian automotive and plastics industries, while pursuing foreign opportunities. As a result of this EU-funded development, production capacity will grow significantly, manufacturing and service activities will become safer, customers will be served faster and with higher quality, and the company’s market position will be further strengthened.
